Cheni Tech is an African Talent Development Agency committed to nurturing Ghanaian technical talent. We strive to create a structured pathway for students, providing industry-standard technical development and preparation to address pressing African challenges. Cheni Tech aspires to be the seasoning that enhances the flavor of Africa’s technological prowess, building a future where Africa’s own people drive and define its technological destiny.
Challenges We Address
Many technical students in Ghana face a significant educational gap. While pursuing degrees in computer science, computer engineering, data science, and related fields, they are primarily taught coding skills. However, this education lacks a global competitive edge, a business-oriented perspective, and the ability to solve customer problems through software engineering. As a result, students struggle to design original and valuable software solutions, often resorting to replicating existing designs. The project aims to address these deficiencies by providing a more comprehensive and holistic education that prepares students for real-world challenges and fosters innovation.
How We Do It
Students who join our program will go through 3 phases of learning to develop products that will solve problems in Ghana and Africa.
Software Design/Design Thinking
Our students will learn to develop the ability to conceptualize, plan, and execute innovative and user-centric software solutions through the application of design thinking principles.
Product Design
Gaining proficiency in designing and conceptualizing software products, ensuring a focus on usability, functionality, and overall user experience.
Software Engineering
Acquiring a strong foundation in software engineering principles, encompassing coding, algorithms, data structures, and best practices for creating robust and scalable software systems.
Entrepreneurship
Cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset and skills necessary to identify market opportunities, develop viable business models, and effectively bring software products to market.
Who Is Eligible To Apply?
Must be an undergraduate student in a public university in Ghana.
Must have knowledge of basic programming concepts and must be able to write programming functions to solve basic problems.
Must be interested in solving demanding problems with technology.
Must be interested in technical entrepreneurship.
